Summer 2011

Well the Summer came and went and it was honestly the best ever! Since this blog has truly become our little family journal I had to post all the fun moments I could. I got my blog from 2008-2010 printed out into a book and I was so excited all this blogging had actually paid off!
So here we go recording more wonderful moments!

I  can't describe the overwhelming joy I felt being home and when my Mom gave me this basket for my 30th birthday full of 30 presents and thoughts. I literally cried tears of joy. There's no place like home!

We went to a Bee's baseball game and a Salt Lake Real game and it was a blast!

Ron and Marsh babysat while we enjoyed a romantic night out at Log Haven. It was our last night before Lee went back to Brazil and I stayed for another 3 weeks.
I sure did miss my man!

It was so fun to go to the Zoo and have a picnic with the kiddies. Lucas kept saying "roooowr" at all the animals. It was so cute. I kept telling my mom that she was like my "mom" friend with Gracie!

Maile had a heck of a summer! It was so cute to see her switch back from Portuguese to English. I have never seen her so happy and she loved spending time with her two little girl cousins, Gracie and June.

We went on a fun playdate with the "Hyland Lake Moms" and went to the Discovery Museum by trax then played at the Gateway fountains. Maile had a blast with her buddies Tate and Everitt and of course I love their moms, Brittany and Melanie!

Sunday evenings at my parent's house are always the best! Joe, the "fun uncle", would chase the kids around and it was just so fun and relaxing to be around everyone.

Of course we went to Snowbird and I whenever I smell the summer mountains it reminds me so much of my childhood spending summer days up there. It was so green and beautiful and of course Brad remains the Speed Scrabble champion still.

I loved spending time with my brazilian friends! The Moreiras, Marcia and Polyana, and Daniele! We had a big pot luck and my pave was a hit. I actually have learned a few dishes after all! :)

We had a fun evening up at Park City and went to the fresh market up there and got fresh cherries then headed to Sam and Meagan's park to eat yummy pasta dinner while the kids played on the playground. I just couldn't get over the backdrop of mountains filled with the darkest green trees!

It's always so fun to see old friends! It was fun to see the RPE gang at the Michael Vey signing and it was a bit weird not running the event like the old days.
I miss my co-workers and I'm so glad Rick's doing so well.
And we had an awesome GNO with my high school/Hawaii friends at Cheesecake Factory. I swear we could talk for days and days- I love you girls!

A favorite was swimming at "Casa de Kris"

Here are some of Lucas's fun moments this Summer. He got Roseola when we got there so he was pretty sad. Then when he perked up he had a blast learning to cruise around the house and he loved having Grandpa chase him around. And he made sure he closed the doors all around the house all of the time!

And of course the highlight of the summer: the arrival of June Olivia Curtis. Sweetest little baby ever! It is so fun to see my little sis as a  mother and she is such a good one at that. Thank you for providing a cousin finally! :) I had so much fun gabbing away with my mom and sister and a highlight was going to see the movie, The Help. We looooved it and giggled the whole way through.

When we got home Daddy had delivered on his big surprise he was promising- a new house for Maile! This picture was taken at 6am when we arrived at the apartment and Maile had to put her princess dress on and try out the house! :) It was soooo amazing to see Daddy once again. Lucas had the biggest smile when we saw him and just chuckled. It was a priceless moment.
We're never going to go that long without seeing Daddy again!

Other Summer highlights were: Sound of Music at Sundance, visiting with Mimi, Ann Marie and Marie, miniature golfing, Park City outlets, seeing friends, going to see movies, The Bachelorette finale of course, laying out in the sun with Danni and oops Lucas throwing her phone in the pool, playing the piano at my parent's, making crafts, shopping at Walmart and Target and Costco (Oh how I've missed you!), eating oreos and milk everyday, tuna fish sandwiches and tomato soup, Cafe Rio and Paradise Cafe, and of course mom's peach cobbler and homemade oreo ice-cream (yes I miss American food!), getting caught in the pouring rain with mom and the kids and getting literally soaked, going on golf cart rides with Grandpa, getting permanent eyeliner, and the best of course was just seeing my kids bond with my parents and being in their wonderful home around those I love.

Living far away sure brings a whole new meaning to the phrase:
"There's no place like home!"
I truly took deep breaths all summer just trying to soak it all in.
And thank you to my amazing mom that traveled home with me to Brazil and helped me with my little "angels" on those loooong tiring flights. :)It all was truly an amazing Summer that will go down in history for the Barbosa fam!

What a fun summer! You are very blessed to be able to travel back and forth as often as you. And you deserve it. You are a great woman!
