Sao Joao

How does one even try to describe the holiday of Sao Joao? All I know is that it celebrates a Saint and that Saint must be special because they celebrate this holiday allll month long! We had parties at the ward, at Maile's school, and in the middle of the city they have a festival going on every night until 5am in the morning! Campina Grande is famous for their Sao Joao. So yes we had a fun month full of lots of forro and music and every type of food that you could imagine made out of corn!
Maile and Frasinho started dancing at the church party together. Priceless!

It's winter here but as you can see we have found a few sunny days here and there on the beach in Joao Pessoa. It's fun to take Lukey these days cause he doesn't shove the sand into his mouth anymore! :)

Melanie Made It!

So many new and fun things to eat and
plenty of memories to make us smile!
Mel- thank you for making it down here! Sorry you got put in 1st class. 9hrs really isn't enough! We had so much fun sipping coconuts on the beach, laying in the sun, beach buggy ride around town, getting left at a deserted island for 3 hours and you smashing that crab, watching the serenade sunset at Ilha de Jacare, lots of late night chats and giving each other pep talks, trying lots of new foods like jambo, caqui, the gigantao sandwich, my sogra's famous souflet, corn cooked in every way imaginable, banana pizza, crepes, tapioca, self-service buffets, rice and black beans, and much more! Don't forget our pedicure and manicures, buying new fun earrings, picking up shells on the beach, double-strollering it through the streets getting 80,000 looks, our looong day on the fazenda and the closest fireworks show ever, our cushy bus ride back home to Campina, sao joao festivals and you learning to dance forro, parque do povo, making muddies and you leaving me with the best presents ever! Thank you for coming all the way down here, I had the best time!

Porto de Galinhas-Celebrating 6 years of marriage!

It seems like just yesterday in some ways that I was becoming "Mrs. Ligleydson Barbosa" and I could've never been prepared for the adventures and alegrias ahead with my brasileiro. He planned a romantic trip to a beach about 3 hours away, Porto de Galinhas. It was so much fun!! The only things that went wrong was the car problems on the way there and then losing ALL of our pictures from the trip (sniffle sniffle) yesterday during a chip malfunction! :( So sad. But there were so many fun times in between it was truly a wonderful way to celebrate 6 years of marriage!
We stayed at a Resort that had this view at night and hammocks and cabanas in the sun by day. My kind of place! Without the kids it was just almost too good to be true that we could just sit back, relax and spend time together! :) I have to admit, however, that I missed the kids like crazy and we were so excited to get back and squeeze our beautiful little chillens!

So happy to have mom and dad home and get their souvenirs!
Maile hasn't left me out of her sight since!
So since the pictures won't help us remember much I want to record our great times in our family journal: tapioca in the mornings, playing tap rummy, speed and intense rounds of black jack, pool, ping pong, laying by the pool listening to music, sleeping in, our cruise ship room, long walk on the beach in the morning, spraying aloe on at night, eating lots of crepe, shopping at our galinha shops, eating at the churrascarias, almost beating you at pool basketball horse, watching movies late at night, walking the boardwalk and listening to "Sozinho" at the barzinho, you sneaking in a soccer game, me sneaking in one last crepe, scuba diving for aliancas, getting a better room and room service, reading The Five Love Languages in the car, and oh so much more!! Obrigada pela viagem meu amor. Vamos voltar e tirar todas as fotos novamente e relembrar um aniversario perfeito!
