Out and about na "Rua"

Just thought I would document a little of "Paraiba" (the name of the state we're living in) and what it's like to go out and about around here.
This is the feira "fresh market" we go to for fresh veggies and fruits. So cheap- just $1 for each bundle. That's a definite plus as the cost of living is really not cheap here.
Rice and beans every day for lunch!
My favorite thing is to make "vinagrette" with chopped up tomatoes, onions, and green peppers. Just add a little bit of vinegar, salt and it's so yummy with chicken, rice and beans!
This is "acerola". There's a ton of vitamin C in just one of these.
Everyone has their little table and of course a little hammock to rest when business is slow.
Lots of flip flops on every corner.

They have these fresh cashews that are so yummy.
Ya- just not used to buying my meat like this.
Where are you Costco freezer section?!!
Cute little hand-made items.
Get your corn on the cob out of this big pot! They wheel around everything you can imagine to sell. They love corn here. There's even corn flavored popsicles. not my fav.
This guy is wheeling around a big speaker blasting music selling copied cds. They wheel these speakers all over and it gets kind of annoying sometimes as you could imagine when you've just put your baby down to sleep and they come blasting by!
This guy is wheeling around popsicles to sell.
They ring little bells and shout out "picole!"
These are the little streets I go up and down from our apartment.
I always admire the different types of trees.
Padarias! Whenever I pass by a bakery I instantly remember life as a missionary and how we loved to buy a fresh piece of bread!
I love their "pao de queijo" (cheese bread) and these little cookies with goiabada inside are yummy too.
Now I remember why I was a chubby missionary!
The parks are filled with people selling their jewelry.
Apparently at this booth you can even get a tattoo as well. Bonus!
Looots of shops full of Bibles and Saint statues.
In the center of the city there are areas filled with little stands like this.
They sell everything you can imagine.
They use a lot of "mototaxi" here. Yep- motorcycle taxis.
So this was funny. Early one morning I heard a bunch of noise and went to look outside to see what was going on. It was this truck full of speakers blasting music, and if you look close you'll see a lady on top leading an aerobic class.
All these people were following her around the lake doing gymnastics. Ai minha nossa.
Well- that's a bit of the center of the city. I felt kind of silly taking out my camera taking pictures of everyone but it's fun to remember stuff like this. What I didn't capture on camera, however, was the runaway horse I saw one day running down the street, the man taking a nap in a wheelbarrow, the little lizard that I found in my shoe the other day, and the family of four piled onto one bicycle! :)
Oh Brazil! Tudo e muito interesante!
